our new content strategist
and account manager.
It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over and that fall will soon be here. We have been very productive this summer at Excentric – a few notable highlights include launching a new website for Martello Technologies, developing partner web advertising kits for CAA, and designing a series of beautifully branded reports for Fairtrade America. With new clients coming on board and many new exciting projects on the horizon, I am happy to announce that Maria Sturova has joined our team. Maria is a senior-level Content Strategist and Account Manager who will be working with clients and helping us deliver our managed marketing services offering.
I first met Maria as a client. As Director of Marketing for a technology company, she hired Excentric to build a new corporate website. I was immediately impressed by Maria’s strategic yet creative marketing sense and loved her warm, professional manner. Maria is someone I knew I wanted to work with long term, so when the opportunity came about, I was excited to have her join our team.
Her nine years of marketing management experience in Ottawa’s technology sector coupled with skills in content marketing, email, and copywriting will be a great asset to our team, and our clients.

Growing up, I always loved art, math, and words, but I never knew of a career that would combine all three. My family was very much engineering or science-focused and I came upon marketing in university almost by accident. Now, I can’t imagine myself doing anything else!
Good question. All clients are different and have different needs and priorities. But, with every client, I aim to simplify the complex. Marketing thinking demands a lot of creativity and creativity is stifled when there are too many pressing deadlines, confusing details, and stressful processes. My goal is to help reduce the clutter, organize, and simplify, to give our client the mental space to be creative.
I think it’s seeing the difference that marketing can make and being an integral part of that. I love watching the transformation as our clients’ brands mature, as they reach new audiences, and tell their story in a more effective way. I want everyone to know about the hard work and smart innovation that goes on behind the scenes at these companies.
I watch all British comedies that I can get my hands on. In fact, when I first went to the UK a few years ago, I realized that I had conditioned myself to expect anything that is said with a British accent to be funny. So, when I was overhearing people speaking on the street, I kept waiting for the punchline!

Maria will be working closely with me to launch a suite of packaged web-based marketing solutions and to lead our new range of FLEX marketing services, a subscription-based offering where clients set the direction and then sit back and let us take care of the details.
