COVER THE MARKETING BASICS BEFORE YOU GET ALL FANCY

The media is buzzing with the hottest trends in marketing, telling you what to focus on in 2018. Before you get carried away though, pause for a moment, reflect on your achievements this past year and ask yourself:

  • Did I get to cross off everything on my 2017 to-do-list?
  • Have I covered all the basics or is any homework outstanding?

The tools and channels of marketing may be changing, but the basic marketing processes remain the same. What’s your strategy for 2018 and beyond? What worked in 2017, what didn’t? Should you revise your strategic plan? Who are you targeting?

Marketers need to get back to the basics and focus on the four Ps of product, price, place and promotion. Just as important, ensure you are up to speed on the marketing must-haves. The majority of searches are performed on mobile now.  If your business doesn’t have a responsive website yet, make this your #1 priority for 2018!

Catching up on homework and covering the basics can seem tedious, but – done right – it’s an exercise that will pay back year over year. If you need help prioritizing or getting started, give us a call at 613.435-8552 x101.

Here’s to a healthy, happy and successful 2018, filled with many new marketing buzzwords!
